Canzone della Settimana: Undertow

Un ristoro per l'anima in mezzo alle profondità dell'0ceano, il canto tenue e ammaliante alla ricerca di una condivisione di pace e serenità , il canto di sirene che lottano contro la loro natura omerica.
A questo canto sono caduti in trappola anche John Frusciante, corredato da un legame durato qualche anno con una delle vocalist Emily Kokal più il compito di curare il loro Ep d'esordio, e Josh Klinghoffer ex membro del gruppo che guarda caso ha coperto il buco lasciato da Frusciante nei Red Hot Chili Peppers.
E' un intreccio assai fortunoso quello che ha reso protagoniste le Warpaint, gruppo di Los Angeles nato nel 2004 e arrivato a inizio autunno all' esordio discografico per la Rough Trade, una serie di coincidenze che però non ha impedito al gruppo una evoluzione musicale che ha permesso di esordire con un prodotto di forte personalità e fascino, avvalorato anche da una line-up completamente femminile.

The Fool è un esordio discografico che si abbandona a intricate strutture di melodia che si estendono su un tappeto di suoni di una naturalezza coinvolgente e camaleontica, una riproposizione di un sortilegio consolatorio e inquieto, col rischio di inibire ogni razionalità mentale e fisica, ciò che l'amore può comportare se si rischia di esserne intrappolati al suo interno senza l'aiuto della mente.

Undertow è il primo singolo e l'unica canzone del disco a concedersi territori abituali alla forma canzone tradizionale. Corredata dal video promozionale girato da Shannyn Sossamon una ex componente del gruppo, sorella della bassista (provate a individuarla) e attrice di discreta fama; unico neo in questo caso è che la canzone è un pò tagliata di un minuto per rientrare nei canoni più consoni a un video, (a meno che non ci si chiami Kanye West) perciò per un ascolto integrale del pezzo e di tutto l'album The Fool basta andare sul sito ufficiale della band: http://www.warpaintwarpaint.com/.
